Saints in Week 12............

This is my upset special and really depending on who you talk to this one could be considered even by game time. The Saints are at home against the 49ers. The 49ers are somewhere under a 3 point favorite which means the oddsmakers are giving the Saints a good chance to win this game. If history tells us anything the Saints have won the last six consecutive regular season appearances against the 49ers and their only loss came last year in San Francisco; a barn burner in the second round of the playoffs. Many people felt if the Saints would have won that game, they would have represented the NFC in the Super Bowl since the NFC Championship game would have been played in New Orleans. The Saints will be fired up for this game....add a little flavor of revenge and just a touch of Tabasco in their Gatorade and the Saints will be a rolling boil by game time. Saints win in another nail biter

Week 10 for the Saints.............

Saints fans don't worry be happy. Saints have beaten the Falcons 10 out of the last 12 meetings and always play them tough at home. Saints win in a close one as Falcons lose their first game. Have a great football weekend!

Week Nine for the Saints......

The Saints are in prime time again; this time against the struggling Eagles. Michael Vick will get his plays because the Saints have the worst defense in the League(since stats were written down), however the Saints always seem to show up in their night games especially at home. I am giving the edge to the Saints on this one. The Saints probably take this game past the 2-minute warning before putting the Eagles out of their misery. Look for the backup QB for the Eagles if Vick struggles early. Have a great football weekend!

Week 8 for the Saints....

Our home boys the Saints travel to frigid Mile-High and not only will they be dealing with the altitude but also the elements as it could possibly be snowing tonight by gametime. The temperature should be around 37 degrees by kickoff. This all does not bode well for Joe Vitt's debut as the interim head coach tonight. Sorry Saints fans but the Broncos win this one. The Saints defense especially the secondary will get torched tonight. Our only hope is that Drew Brees can keep it a game. The Broncos have an All-Pro secondary led by Champ Bailey. Saints fans get out your rosary beads early and start saying your novenas because the Saints will need all the intervention you can muster. Have a great football weekend!

Week 7 in the NFL.....

After no Saints football last week I am sure you are as ready as I am for today's contest. The Saints seem to have turned the corner against the Chargers and with the addition of Jonathan Vilma this week (back on the active roster) they should get an emotional boost. Our boys have traditionally traveled well but not when they travel to Tampa Bay.Today they should be able to change that trend. Saints over the Bucs in a close one. Enjoy the game!

At Home on Sunday Night Football...........

The Saints under Drew Brees have had many dominate performances in the Superdome. In prime time in the Dome, they have been unstoppable the last couple years. I believe, Saints' fans, tonight they get their mojo back against a Chargers team that has more personalities than Sybil. It should be entertaining, but ultimately the Saints will prevail and win their first game. Drew will get his record and the Saints will go into their bye week 1-4 with lots to think about but little to celebrate. It is still looking to be a long season and where this rollercaster goes next, nobody knows. Hang on to your footballs, because it's going to be a bumpy ride the rest of the way.

Week 4 for the Saints........

I am honest and although I forgot to do my picks on this blog I did do them on Showtime's Beat the Insiders. I recommend you check it out. It's a lot of fun. Having said all that, my record last week was a dismal 5-11. Week Two  I was 6-10 and week One I was 10-5 so after 3 weeks I am 21-26 on the negative side. Apparently I am not the only one who has been picking losers. Who would have thought the Saints and Packers in today's game would have a combined record of 1-5.
The Saints travel to Green Bay to face the Packers who are mentally reeling after being robbed on Monday Night Football. That could work for them or against them depending on how well they channel it. The Saints defense has yet to demostrate they can play for four quarters. The challenge could not be any bigger as they face one, of if not the best,  QB's in the NFL. I am afraid Saints fans I haven't seen anything that would indicate they can get it done in today's game. Conclusion....this one could get real ugly early. Packers win big. Sorry Saints fans. Hopefully, they can prove me wrong.

Week 2 for the Saints

Well last week through everyone for a loop with the upsets; welcome to parity. This week will probably bring more of the same so let's see where I stand after going 10-5 in my first week. I'll start off with the home town guys first. I have to believe they will get the things corrected that need correcting specifically-enthusiasm and passion something CoachAaron Kromer doesn't show much of. Saints should get on track this week. Saints over Panthers in a close one.

Hall of Fame Game

Nice to be a part of the game when one of our own is being inducted into the Hall. I really wasn't too happy with Willie Roaf's dad's comments. Specifically, how he enjoyed Willie's days in Kansas City more. That is still bitterness over the way Willie left New Orleans. The thing that the elder Roaf doesn't understand is that the fans of New Orleans had nothing to do with Willie's departure from the Big Easy or the circumstances involved. Willie, however, being the class act that he is, obviously held no grudges. Thanks Willie for understanding. Maybe your dad could take a page from your book.  Any way you slice it by far Willie Roaf was the best all around Tackle in the NFL of his time frame. Keep in mind in case some of you have forgotten Willie played both Tackle spots Left & Right Tackle. A well deserved place in the Hall is where Willie belongs. Thanks Willie for the memories.
As for the game tonight...Generally speaking in the first Pre-Season game you are evaluating the second and third teamers and sometime the fourth and fifth teamers. Knowing how deep we are and considering Chase Daniel will get a lot of playing time I am calling this one for the Saints. Although it only matters to the players trying to win a spot on an NFL roster, it should be an entertaining game. The Saints I would say have more depth and talent overall and especially at the QB position. We will get a true glimpse of how well the OTA's as the number one QB helped Chase Dainel progress. In my opinion, this year is critical for Dainel if he wants to get a shot at starting somewhere else in the NFL. Scouts will definitely be watching and when his contract with the Saints is up he will get an opportunity based on how he plays in the Exhibition games. As for the rest of the team, keep an eye on #95 Martez Wilson. He should get a lot of playing time as he will be the surprise of this years defense. He will wreak havoc on opposing offenses. With the new defense implemented by Spagnola, also look for Junior Galette #93 to be a force on the D-Line. At the corner position with Greer out we should get a good look at the depth there. By all accounts besides receiver one of the best groups on the team. Enjoy the game and get ready for your season predictions. See if you can match wits with me.

Saints Fans...............ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!
Drew Brees is signed sealed and delivered along with all draft choices and veterans. We are set for training camp at least....But the season....Whoa!  Hold your horses. This will be the first year in NFL history where an NFL team will be without their head coach for an entire season. The first year in NFL history for a coach to be suspended for an entire season. Yes Saints fans we have a huge challenge ahead of us this year. Thank God for Drew Brees! Drew will be the glue that keeps this team together. There is a reason why you pay someone $20 million a year. We may never really know to what extent but I would bet money that Drew will take the reins and coach the offense himself with Pete Carmichael taking the position of second banana. Drew will be in charge of game plans on offense and Drew will call most of the shots. This season we get to see a new side of Drew Brees.....The Coach. We will definitely live or die with his talent and intellect. Add to this a new defense and new coordinator on the other side of the ball with Steve Spagnola.
We as fans have a lot to look forward to this season. I don't know if you gamble any but I promise you the house rarely loses and the LasVegas oddsmakers have the Saints with double digit wins this year at 11 or 12. That's pretty impressive considering Sean Payton will be home in front of his big screen on Sundays...not to mention the other players and coaches suspended.
Get ready Saints fans.........It's gonna be a wild ride in 2012!

Playoffs are here.............

Yes,  it's that time a year when the new season starts. Just to put a bow tie on the regular season,  I finished last week with 11-5 and 156-100 on my picks for the season. Now for the playoffs...The Saints at home entertain the Lions. All indicators are the Saints will win this one...Undefeated at home for the first time in Saints history in 2011; Averaging over 40 points per game at home; And more importantly the defense has allowed less points in the last half of the season than they did in the first half. Case in point...since the Bye in week eleven the Saints defense has allowed and average of 18.5 points per game. In their last eight games the Saints defense has allowed 18.75 points per game. In their five home games since their loss to the Rams in St Louis, the Saints have allowed an astounding 18 points per game. You do the math. If the Saints are averaging over 40 points per game in offense and the defense is only allowing 18 points per game at home the conclusion is easy...Saints win. Enjoy the game and I'll talk to you next week.
